BELIEVE IN THE SON... Eternal life begins with the Savior.
If you want to live forever, begin with the One whom God sent to give you eternal life: YESHUA (Jesus Christ), the Son of God.
The Savior’s blueprint begins with BELIEF/FAITH. Believe that He is the Messiah and obey His commands and decrees. Trust His sacrifice for our sins and receive His words as truth. We cannot purchase eternal life, nor can we earn it through good deeds or through our own righteousness. We need the Savior.
But what does it mean to believe in the Son? His own words show us that believing involves more than agreeing with a statement about Him. It is a trust that calls us to come to Him, OBEY HIM, and follow Him.
God Sent His Only Begotten Son So You Could Live FOREVER! “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
The invitation begins with God’s love. Under the Mosaic Covenant, there was no forgiveness of sins without a blood sacrifice and covering. He gave His Son so that those who believe in Him would not perish but receive everlasting life.
Notice the promise: **everlasting life.** The hope offered by the Savior reaches beyond this temporary existence. It is life that death cannot ultimately take away.
The next verse explains the purpose of His coming:
> “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”
>
> **John 3:17**
God has opened the way of salvation through His Son. Our response begins with believing and turning toward Him.
## Believe Who He Is
The Gospel of John tells us why its testimony was recorded:
> “But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.”
>
> **John 20:31**
Jesus is the Christ—the promised Messiah—and the Son of God. He is more than an inspiring teacher or an example of moral courage. He is the Savior through whom we receive life.
He declared:
> “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
>
> **John 14:6**
The blueprint therefore begins with a Person. Our confidence rests in the Son whom the Father sent.
## Trust What He Has Done for You
We need salvation because we have sinned. Faith means acknowledging that need and trusting the Savior’s death and resurrection.
> “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
>
> **Romans 3:23**
> “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
>
> **Romans 6:23**
Sin earns wages: death. God offers a gift: eternal life through Jesus Christ.
Paul describes the central message of the gospel:
> “For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”
>
> **1 Corinthians 15:3–4**
The Savior gave His life for our sins and rose again. Our hope rests in His saving work, rather than confidence in our own record.
## Receive Salvation as God’s Gift
> “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”
>
> **Ephesians 2:8–10**
These verses hold together two essential truths: **salvation is God’s gift, and those who receive it are called to walk in good works.**
We do not obey to purchase the Savior’s mercy. We respond to His mercy with a changed life. Grace gives us no grounds for boasting, and it gives us every reason to follow Him.
## Hear His Words—and Take Them Seriously
The Savior connects believing with hearing His word:
> “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
>
> **John 5:24**
If we trust Him concerning eternal life, we should also trust His instruction concerning how to live.
He asks a searching question:
> “And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?”
>
> **Luke 6:46**
Calling Him “Lord” carries meaning. It acknowledges His authority. A profession of faith should lead us to receive His teaching, examine our choices, and surrender what contradicts His words.
## Follow the One You Believe
Jesus describes His sheep this way:
> “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.”
>
> **John 10:27–28**
**They hear Him. They follow Him. He gives them eternal life.**
Following Him does not mean we have never failed. It means we recognize His voice and continually turn toward His direction, including when He corrects us.
The relationship between love and obedience is expressed plainly:
> “If ye love me, keep my commandments.”
>
> **John 14:15**
Obedience is an expression of love for the Savior. The faith that begins by trusting Him grows into a life shaped by His teaching.
## Your First Step
Begin by asking yourself:
- Do I believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God?
- Am I trusting His sacrifice and resurrection for salvation?
- Am I willing to hear His words and allow them to change my life?
- Will I follow Him when His teaching challenges my habits or traditions?
**Believe in the Son. Receive God’s gift with gratitude. Listen to the Savior you trust, and begin following Him.**
That leads us to the next part of His blueprint: **The Two Greatest Commandments—love God with all your heart, and love your neighbor as yourself.**
